The Speedgoat has been the default recommendation for long, technical trail miles for years, and the 7 keeps that brief: protection underfoot, grip you can trust on loose ground, and a platform that stays comfortable deep into an ultra.
Length is true to size, but the forefoot is snug and tapered in the way Speedgoats always have been, and some runners report rubbing on the outside of the little toe. A half size up is worth considering for long efforts when feet swell on technical descents. Heel lockdown is a real strength, with no movement even on steep ground.
Best for: Technical trail, long distance, ultra
Sizing: True to size; consider a half size up for ultra distance
Fit: Narrow and pointed; wide is available and strongly recommended for E widths and above
