Trail-runner softness in a hiking boot

The Mafate Hike brings trail-running cushioning and low weight to a mid-height hiking boot. It suits day hikes, fastpacking and moderate loads on established trails rather than technical mountain ground.

It leans wide, especially through the midfoot and toebox, and stays roomy even for testers who sized down. Break-in is minimal, with no hot spots reported over 50-plus miles, helped by a thick padded tongue and a soft, well-cushioned ankle collar. Heel hold can be slightly loose for narrower ankles. Note this is not waterproof.
