Saucony Triumph 24 vs New Balance 1080v15

Triumph 24 or 1080v15? Here’s how they compare on feel, fit, brand specs and price, from the fitting team at The Run House.

The short answer

Want max cushion that still feels bouncy? Get the Triumph 24.

Want the softest cushion we carry, in a light package? Get the 1080v15.

Get the Triumph 24 if

  • You’d like a little less squish underfoot
  • You want more bounce and energy back
  • You want more foam underfoot (3mm more at the heel)
  • You like a higher heel-to-toe drop (10mm vs 6mm)

Get the 1080v15 if

  • You want the softer, more cushioned ride
  • You’re on your feet all day or walk a lot
  • You need a roomier fit
  • You prefer a lower drop (6mm vs 10mm)

On the run

Triumph 24: Max cushion with real bounce. Lively and bouncy thanks to Saucony’s new foam, with a balanced rather than mushy feel and a gentle rocker. It’s tall but light for its size and stays peppy when you pick up the pace.

1080v15: The softest, lightest max cushion. A big change. New Balance’s new foam is the softest of any shoe here in lab tests, noticeably bouncy and much lighter than the v14. That softness can feel a little unstable for runners who need support.

Fit

Triumph 24. True to size, with excellent heel lockdown. It has more volume than the 23, but the toebox measures on the snug side, so wide feet should take the wide.

1080v15. True to size. Reviewers disagree on width, with some calling it roomy and others narrow, so try it on. The heel can slip on turns.
