The short answer
The Gel-Kayano 33 replaced the Gel-Kayano 32.
A new two-foam midsole and a new support system. It measured softer and a little bouncier in lab tests, with a stiffer forefoot.
What changed
- Foam: New two-layer midsole: FF Blast Max over FF Blast+.
- Support: New support system, with slightly less correction than the 32.
- Shape: Slightly lower stack and a bigger heel rocker.
- Outsole: Updated rubber layout.
- On the run: Softer, bouncier, stiffer up front and snugger.
- Measured: 3.1mm less foam under the heel. Weight and drop about the same.

On the run
Gel-Kayano 33: Comfort-first stability. Soft on landing at easy paces, with support that’s more gentle guidance than correction and a stiff, steady forefoot. It feels best slow, and at running pace some runners find it flat.
Gel-Kayano 32: Tank-like stability. Tank-like stability with excellent shock absorption. The foam is firm and the energy return is low, but it’s very dependable.
