On the run
Peregrine 16: The versatile trail workhorse. Stable and secure, with comfortable foam and a new Vibram Megagrip outsole that grips and lasts. Shallower lugs make it better on gravel and easier trails, with a little less bite in deep mud.
Lone Peak 9: Zero drop, room for your toes. Low, firm and zero drop, so you feel the trail. A rock plate takes the edge off sharp stuff, but it isn’t a cushioned shoe.

Fit
Peregrine 16. Runs slightly short, so if you’re between sizes, go up a half. Secure, confidence-inspiring fit, though the toebox tapers. Wide available.
Lone Peak 9. Altra’s foot-shaped toebox lets your toes spread out. The midfoot is roomy too, so narrow feet may need to size down or lace snugly.
